Behavioral Data Engineering: Research, Telemetry and Event Systems teaches you to build behavior data that people can trust and use. It follows the data from the moment someone taps a button to the moment a team makes a decision.
You start with what behavioral data is, what it can and cannot tell you, and how to choose tools. You then learn to start from decisions and metric definitions, design events and tracking plans, and enforce them with JSON Schema contracts. You build a small tracking library and a collection server, and handle the hard parts: offline phones and data costs, wrong device clocks, late and duplicate events, bots, ad blockers and server-side events.
In the warehouse you model events with dbt and SQL: identity stitching, sessions, summary tables, funnels, retention cohorts, paths, engagement, friction signals and segments. The experiments module covers assignment, exposure logging, analysis in SQL, sample ratio checks, CUPED and what to do when you cannot run a test. The course ends with research methods, privacy and consent rules across Africa, Europe, India and the Americas, and running the platform day to day.
48 lessons with working code you can run for free in DuckDB, plus a hands-on task in every lesson and a final project.
